As a new author, I'm always looking for ways to share my writing with the world. After doing some research on the subject, I decided to start a blog. This will be my first time officially "blogging," unless the old Xanga social networking site counts as a blog (anybody besides me remember that?). I've struggled with topic ideas, because I want to write about things that people want to read. What I don't want to do is fill the internet with meaningless posts about what I ate for breakfast, etc. With that said, let me begin with a general introduction of myself, and we'll go from there. I promise all my posts won't be as uninteresting as this one, so if you could just bear with me, I'd appreciate it.
I'm from a small town in Georgia, where everybody knows everybody and most of the streets are lined with trees. I remember being in high school when the new Super Wal-Mart opened; I think there was even a parade. Of course, as a teen I couldn't wait to leave that place. As an adult, however, I see the beauty and quaintness of small-town life. In fact, I often reminisce about my childhood- before iPhones and all the other technology that practically reads your mind -and long for things to be that simple again. I would love to raise my children in a world where you work hard for your money, God comes first, family comes second, and people still have values. Some of you may be thinking that all sounds very "Mayberry-ish," and I'm sure it does; it's just the way I feel. To be completely honest, I'm sometimes afraid of all the technological advances our society constantly makes; how much is too much, and when will it stop? We're getting to a point where we can no longer do things for ourselves. Everything is at our fingertips the second we need it. Yes, it's convenient, but what is it teaching our children and how is it developing their characters?
Well, now that I've gone off on a completely unintended tangent, let's get back to my biography. I graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2009 with a degree in Public Relations. I dabbled in that a bit once I finished school, but had a not-so-pleasant experience. At that point, I began looking for a new job and stumbled upon Ribley Family Chiropractic in Woodstock, GA. I'm currently still employed there as the Coordinator of Operations, and I couldn't ask for a better work environment. I was extremely blessed to find such honest, caring, hard-working people. I had no idea what my future held when I accidentally interrupted their staff meeting to drop off my resume that fateful day.
In September of 2009, I married my husband, and in May of 2011 we had our first child, a daughter. Right now we're in the potty-training phase (I'm sure there will be a post completely dedicated to that at some point), so things are interesting. But no matter what happens or what kind of day I've had, I feel completely and utterly blessed and loved because of those two people.
I could go on and on about my life, but I'm afraid I've probably bored you all enough as it is. So I'll end by saying thanks for taking an interest in my writing, and I do hope you will visit this blog again.
